10/14/2004 (Thursday).
I forgot the camera, so no photos today. Today was kind of frustrating. First I found out that the supplier of the Supercharger kit hadn't included two hoses that they recommended be installed before almost anything else. I then spent considerable time trying to get them. George came down from Salem to lend me a hand, and after we removed the intake manifold studs and replacing them with new ones (longer for the new manifold) we proceeded to try and install the new manifold. We tried every trick we could think of to mount this thing and after three hours we still hadn't gotten the first nut on it. There are 9 nuts securing this thing to the head, the shape and size of it dictate that the bottom nuts go on first. The problem being, there is very little room to access them (you drop a lot of nuts!!. At 5:00 we decided to call it a day and George headed back to Salem. I started to close up the shop and then decided that I would give the manifold install another try. There was one nut (the first one) that simply didn't have enough clearance to fit where it was meant to go. I ground off a very small part of the washer part of the nut (about 1/64") and on it went. I now have the @#$%^$#! Manifold on the car. Hopefully that will be the end of the install problems, check back tomorrow to find out.
